Kalava is also called Raksha Sutra, it is believed that tying it on the wrist protects it from the crisis of life.

The reason for this is that tying kalava gives the blessings of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh Tridev. There is also the benefit of compatibility of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati.

Kalava protects from serious diseases

According to physiology, the veins reaching several major organs of the body pass through the wrist. By tying Kalava on the wrist, the action of these nerves is controlled. This keeps the harmony of Tridosh i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Tying the Kalava is believed to a great extent protect against serious diseases like blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and paralysis.
